Art for the Ocean

A Evening for the Ocean & Art Auction

Time and time again scientists have warned us of the ocean’s decline, and yet humanity continues to knowingly exacerbate its devastation. The science is clear. All stakeholders need to prioritize the ocean. But if we’re numb to the numbers, how can we motivate the masses to put the ocean first?

When the facts are hard to face, art helps us see the bigger picture. It awakens new depths of empathy and understanding, transcends logic, and illustrates implications we may never experience first hand. Art has the power to manifest the solutions and mobilize the momentum that the ocean needs.

While the ocean only receives 1% of all philanthropic funding, as of 2022 the global art market reached $67.8 billion, its second-highest level to date.

In the face of the ocean’s decline, the art world presents both the mediums and the financial means to both shift cultural perceptions and drive necessary change.
