Delaney Demark is a software engineer and advocate for the protection of our oceans. She has always been fascinated by the potential of harnessing the power of data for pursuing climate solutions, and takes a special interest in how this can be applied to the ocean. Before diving into climate tech full-time, Delaney received her Bachelor’s of Science in Computer Science with a minor in Earth and Ocean Sciences from Duke University, and worked as a Security Software Engineer at Salesforce. In the past year, she founded a newsletter covering ocean-based climate solutions entitled Seaking Blue, and has been working on campaigns for the protection of the ocean with “chilli”, an app for streamlined climate activism. She believes it is important to try to address the climate crisis from multiple angles, through pursuing climate solutions, environmental protections, and climate advocacy. In May, she hosted the first ocean tech summit in NYC to help build a community of ocean innovators in the New York metropolitan area. She now works as a Software Engineering Consultant for companies at the frontier of marine carbon dioxide removal. Recently, she joined the Junior Board of Christodora, an organization that provides citizen science and nature immersion opportunities for middle and high school students in NYC.
