In honor of the UN World Oceans Day 2023 theme “Planet Ocean” Oceanic Global joined OceanX to reshape how we view the ocean to finally put the ocean first. Leading up to and following UN World Oceans Day 2023, we have been be spotlighting stories from global ocean advocates about their #OceanFirst stories: moments they first fell in love with the ocean, moments the ocean taught them something new, or moments they were first inspired to protect it. All of us depend on the ocean, we need to prioritize it on World Oceans Day and every day.
Some of our speakers, ambassadors, and ocean advocates shared inspirational moments of their #OceanFirsts about when it first clicked that we are interconnected with our ocean.
We connected with attendees at the OceanX Pop-Up at the United Nations Headquarters for World Oceans Day on 8 June 2023 to get their unique perspectives on why it’s time to put the ocean first.
Our featured speakers from the 2023 celebration shared their thoughts about how ocean action must not be limited to certain parts of the year. It’s critical time to put the #OceanFirst today and every day to support the health of all life on our shared blue planet.
