Oceanic Global was a community partner to the Lonely Whale, Captain Planet Foundation & Point Break Foundation Ocean Heroes Meetup series of youth leadership events and trainings ongoing alongside the UN World Oceans Day celebration programming.
In celebration of World Oceans Day this June, the Ocean Heroes Bootcamp: New York City Meetup youth program welcomed 100 emerging leaders ages 11-18 from across the 5 boroughs in collaboration with The Explorers Club, United Nations Environment Program, and the international NGO Peace Boat. During the abridged two-day program, accepted youth learned about plastic pollution and how to create their own impact campaigns to beat plastic pollution in their schools and communities. Attending youth walked away with critical campaigning tools and a campaign concept they may submit through the online Ocean Heroes Bootcamp platform and the chance to receive grant funding in support of its realization.
