World Oceans Day ConferenceJune 7th, 2019
Oceanic Global is the non-profit and production partner to the United Nations for this year’s World Oceans Day 2019 celebration.
Gender & the Ocean
Our ocean is inclusive. No matter who we are or how we self-identify, we are all connected to the ocean. The ocean is gender neutral but gender still comes into play – and the representation is far from equal.
World Oceans Day
This World Oceans Day, we’re partnering with the United Nations to advocate for gender parity in all ocean-related industries. We’re shedding light on the realities of gender roles in the ocean and telling the untold stories of: forced laborers, scientists, women in shipping, fisheries workers, economists, and more as well as of their experiences with gender and the oceans. Our oceans need our voice. Let’s come together and make sure everyone is heard.
The United Nations designated June 8th as World Oceans Day, a day to remind everyone of the major role the oceans have in everyday life.
This year the UN is hosting its annual World Oceans Day celebration on June 7th, 2019 at the UN Headquarters in New York.
As the official non-profit and production partner for World Oceans Day 2019, Oceanic Global is joining The United Nations, our partners, and ocean advocates around the world, to celebrate the benefits humankind derives from the ocean and raise awareness for our individual and collective duty to use its resources sustainably.
The activities on the 7th of June will include a full day of storytelling and panel discussions featuring: leading scientists, institutional representatives, changemakers, documentary filmmakers, and non-profits. Speakers will discuss the current issues impacting our ocean, the need for equal gender representation in ocean-related industries and tangible solutions for supporting gender parity.
Groups globally have come together to celebrate World Oceans Week.
