United Nations World Oceans Day 2018: Clean Our Ocean

Oceanic Global Founder, Lea d'Auriol, spoke to advocate UN Sustainable Development Goal 14: Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas, and marine resources.

8 JUNE 2018 Oceanic Global Founder Lea d’Auriol spoke on a panel at the United Nations as part of the UN’s annual World Oceans Day celebration on June 8th, 2018.

Moderated by Dr. Ayana Elizabeth Johnson (Ocean Collectiv), the panel featured cross-category ocean experts including Juliette Babb-Riley (Regular Process for Global Reporting and Assessment of the State of the Marine Environment), Sam Teicher (Coral Vita), Angelique Pouponneau (SIDS Youth AIMS Hub), Peter Malinowski (Billion Oyster Project), and Cyrill Gutsch (Parley).


Dr. Johnson began the afternoon’s panel discussion with an insightful speech outlining how ocean health meets each of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Closing remarks from singer/songwriter, Cody Simpson and Secretary General’s Special Envoy for the Ocean’s Peter Thomson underscored the Clean Our Ocean event theme, and reinforced the importance of supporting UN Sustainable Development Goal 14: Life Below Water.
