Sandals Goes Plastic-Free with TOS

Sandals Resorts International (SRI) has pledged to eliminate all single-use plastics at each of its 19 locations across seven Caribbean islands with Oceanic Global by September 2019.

Major all-inclusive luxury resort company, Sandal Resorts International (SRI), has partnered with Oceanic Global to eliminate all single-use plastics from each of its 19 locations across seven Caribbean islands. In doing so, they will achieve the highest level of accreditation available through The Oceanic Standard, the Plastic-Free Badge.

SRI has committed to being entirely plastic-free by September 2019, and as their first milestone in the process, they eliminated all single-use plastic straws and drink stirrers by November 1, 2018. This initial step removed 21.5 million plastic straws and drink stirrers out of landfills and the ocean each year!

The Sandals Foundation philanthropic arm of the organization has long been raising awareness around marine plastic pollution. By implementing the Oceanic Standard’s Ocean Champion Badge, the company is now taking the next step to put their core mission of environmental sustainability into practice.
